QUALIFICATION OVERVIEW


The Essential Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Representative (Low Risk Work Area) Skills Programme prepares

learners to perform the duties and responsibilities of an Occupational Health and Safety Representative within low-risk

workplace environments. The programme equips learners with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required

to promote workplace health and safety, identify and report hazards, support compliance activities and contribute to a

safer working environment.


This programme is ideal for employees, supervisors, administrators, coordinators and team leaders who have been

appointed, or who may be appointed, as OHS Representatives in workplaces such as offices, schools, retail environments,

training centres and other low-risk operational settings. Learners develop an understanding of their legal duties and

learn how to effectively participate in workplace safety initiatives.


The programme is designed to develop competencies in:

  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of an OHS Representative
  • Identifying workplace hazards and unsafe conditions
  • Participating in workplace inspections and safety monitoring activities
  • Reporting hazards, incidents and unsafe work practices
