QUALIFICATION OVERVIEW
The Intermediate Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Representative (High Risk Work Area) Skills Programme
prepares learners to effectively fulfil the duties and responsibilities of an Occupational Health and Safety Representative
within high-risk work environments. The programme equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills required
to identify workplace hazards, participate in risk control activities, conduct inspections, support incident investigations
and contribute to legal compliance within industries where the potential for injury, illness or environmental harm is
significantly increased.
This programme is ideally suited to employees, supervisors, team leaders, safety representatives and worker
representatives operating within sectors such as construction, manufacturing, engineering, mining support services,
logistics, warehousing, utilities and other higher-risk workplaces. Learners gain an understanding of the legislative
framework governing occupational health and safety and learn how to actively participate in workplace safety
management systems.
The programme is designed to develop competencies in:
- Understanding the legal functions and responsibilities of OHS Representatives in high-risk workplaces
